Reducing you and your family's use of hot water can save carbon, as less energy is spent on heating water. 12% of a typical gas-heated home’s energy bill is from water used for showers, baths and the hot water tap. So, taking up to only 4 minutes in the shower therefore helps to save carbon, water, and money, and showering for 1 minute less can save 10 litres of water. Water stress is an important issue and will become increasingly critical, so saving water is also important in its own right. The average shower is 10 minutes long, but you can save 12 litres a minute by reducing your shower time. (Source, WaterWise)
